Sherwood Diner 02:41 am 02/08/2008
I ate in a diner last night.
A person at a nearby table intrigued me.
Woman? Man dressed in drag, but very well done?
But this is the suburbs!

Well, this person had an absolute puff-ball area
around her small mouth - which was outlined
with dark lip-liner. And the bleached blonde hair.
Fur vest.....

So I drew her picture:

I wasn't all that satisfied with my picture,
but I put it away to eat. Hey - this isn't a commission -
why agonize? I was just biding my time, waiting for my dinner to be done.

But, me, I came home with the picture.
And once again, here I am at 2:30 am, trying
to make my Artwork
Better.

And look at what I made!!! It's wonderful!!! :

Giants 11:36 pm 02/04/2008
Here's a blast from the past.
Cleaning off my desk, trying to do something
with all those pictures I had thought were so important
when I took them,
I came across these photos of the very first Giant Caricatures I had made.
Years ago when I first designed this idea:

Line Quality 12:10 am 02/04/2008
The pictures I just posted were good.
But I wondered if I could make it even better.
So I redrew the girl in the pink mat -
looking for more Exaggeration (more Caricature).
Here's what I came up with:

Then I decided to erase the predraw
and draw a darker line around the whole thing.
To make it look more finished. Or more cartoony
or something.

  • Ooops. I forgot the braces.

    LG Phone 11:56 pm 02/02/2008
All right. All right already. I brought my real camera out to a gig. Caricatures - in my beautiful hand-decorated mats. I hope I'll remember to post them as soon as I get them developed.

But first I'll have to post the pile of pictures that's been on my desk for I'd don't know how long. I'm sorry about the quality of the photos - this was from back when I was trying to use the camera on the LG phone. But I took the photos because I wanted to remember these Caricatures that I drew quite a while ago:

    Greeting Cards 01:19 am 02/02/2008
I worked at a real 12-year-old's pajama party today. They had me drawing Caricatures. The dad blindfolded them and gave them exciting surprises to eat (like jalapeno peppers, marshmallows, chocolate, mustard, ketchup). They played with balloons. They wrapped each other up as toilet paper mummies..... A few of them talked 'boyfriends', but mostly they were just having fun. Where they were. With who was there.

My pictures were right on. I didn't bring my camera. As usual. But I do have a picture to share with you.

On the way home from the gig, I walked briskly through a nearly empty Supermarket. Even got into their music.
Bought myself a card. Just because it lifted my spirits. Pictures can be so inspiring:

The sentiment that went along with this picture was something like:
"Happy Birthday. How many candles - 10, 20, 30, 40... (stop me if you can!)"
