With all these jobs I do, I still find time to play with
drawing in my free time. Here I was, drawing on the train
with an old multicolored 'blue' pencil that I used to love.
I had time to really figure out what I wanted to do with
this guy I was looking at through the top-rail of the seat.
I decided that I wanted to push his nose up with his lips that
were sticking out. Scribble, scribble, couldn't figure it out.
Dang. Maybe some day. But I was pleased with another solution
I came up with - to have those lips sticking out in front of the nose:
Then I saw a line picture I had left in my folder from a long time ago.
I remember what I was doing that day. I had decided that head-shapes
could be very funny themselves, and this is what I came up with.
Exaggeration, Alison! That's all I did?? So this day, while
playing with my old 'blue' pencil, here I MADE THAT FACE SHAPE FUNNY:
Here's another picture I made just for my own enjoyment.
A man on the train. Note: I only had limited supplies with me.
Not many colors to choose from:
And earlier this week, waiting for my client to show up at Starbucks
where we had arranged to deliver a Studio Caricature rush job - I was early - So I took out a piece of scrap paper and started drawing. At first, it was pretty straight forward, but then it clicked. I remembered what makes good Caricature. And here's what I drew. Yay!
I hope I'll remember to post the fabulous Wedding Caricatures after his Wedding.
Wouldn't want to spoil the Surprise by posting them before his bride and guests see it. |
