M&M's 05:47 pm 07/05/2008
Yay! This was really fun. Often asked to do something different, this time the Mars Company wanted me to draw people
like M&M's. Before going to the fabulous M&M's Store in NYC, I had to figure out what was
the 'code' from the M&M's people on the candy-wrappers.

Senior Banquet 04:07 am 07/05/2008
These pictures were taken at a High School Senior Banquet. A break in the middle of the week
that I had been drawing another High School's Graduating Class. And soon after another High School's Prom.
I spend a lot of time with High Schools in May and June.

So I get a feel for the Social Pressure, what kinds of interactions are expected in each group.
They're all similar, but there are subtle differences. I liked this group.
In my opinion, I'd guess that this group didn't think they had to act all grown-up already.
It felt refreshing - like they admitted that they didn't know it all already. Not that they
acted immature. They just seemed open for their first experiences which they knew they
didn't have already. Just my opinion, of course. But the bravado that I see sometimes
makes me feel like High School Graduates have done everything already and they know all the answers
that I'm still figuring out:

Starbucks 09:41 am 07/03/2008
With all these jobs I do, I still find time to play with
drawing in my free time. Here I was, drawing on the train
with an old multicolored 'blue' pencil that I used to love.
I had time to really figure out what I wanted to do with
this guy I was looking at through the top-rail of the seat.
I decided that I wanted to push his nose up with his lips that
were sticking out. Scribble, scribble, couldn't figure it out.
Dang. Maybe some day. But I was pleased with another solution
I came up with - to have those lips sticking out in front of the nose:

Then I saw a line picture I had left in my folder from a long time ago.
I remember what I was doing that day. I had decided that head-shapes
could be very funny themselves, and this is what I came up with.
Exaggeration, Alison! That's all I did?? So this day, while
playing with my old 'blue' pencil, here I MADE THAT FACE SHAPE FUNNY:

Here's another picture I made just for my own enjoyment.
A man on the train. Note: I only had limited supplies with me.
Not many colors to choose from:

And earlier this week, waiting for my client to show up at Starbucks
where we had arranged to deliver a Studio Caricature rush job
- I was early - So I took out a piece of scrap paper and started drawing.
At first, it was pretty straight forward, but then it clicked.
I remembered what makes good Caricature. And here's what I drew. Yay!

I hope I'll remember to post the fabulous Wedding Caricatures after his Wedding.
Wouldn't want to spoil the Surprise by posting them before his bride and guests see it.
