Today I Enjoyed redrawing a couple of people that I had drawn at Parties back in 2007. I still had photos of the people here:

Oh no! Or so I thought for a moment.

My New Agent contacted me about Tomorrow's job. She said that they would be providing the paper, and it would be fine if I just draw head/shoulders in black/white. That means, of course, that the Paper will be White!

I figured I should check it out. I felt like I should try a Warm Up on White Paper using Only Black Markers and Black Color Stick.

Oh. Looking at the randomly chosen reference pictures, I sure wish I could use Blue Paper this time. Or at least a pink and a brown Color stick. But as an exercise ~ to be ready for tomorrow's event ~ I really kept it Black/White.

Success! I didn't need the extra supplies after-all. I feel confident to draw at tomorrow's Black/White event

It's time to get myself in gear. I will have to draw Fast at tomorrow's Event. Huge place with thousands of people. I can't be trying to redevelop myself. I won't have time to reinvent the wheel.

So it's back to the way I have been successfully drawing at Events already. And we'll see if my recent Cartoony studies might affect some of them.

To warm up, I redrew a few of the Caricatures that I previously drew at Events. And I even looked up The Dark Knight online ~ Not that I would ever use a different artist's character at an event ~ but I felt like I should familiarize myself with him. Because of some of the things that I had been told about tomorrow's event.

Note: as always, if I draw more than one face in a Caricature, it doesn't necessarily mean that the people know each other. I pick them at random.

We had a good time at this Party. I imagine the children will be positively affected by the Graffiti Words. And they usually hang them on the wall in their homes after the Party. The picture (the Word) becomes a basic part of their lives. But I feel like I could have had more impact if I didn't let the children tell me what word they wanted me to write for them. I feel like they already affiliated themselves with the words they gave me. But if I bestowed my random positive words on them, my pictures could have broadened their sense of self.

If people feel like they have only the labels they had already been given, they might feel limited. As though that's all they could be. Or they Must always be That. Pigeon-holed. Possibly even limiting their futures.

If we didn't get off on the 'wrong track' (I don't remember for sure, but I think my hostess told the children that they could tell me what word they want me to write for them), I could have helped people access the positive traits that we all have inside ourselves. Sometimes dormant or hidden, but it is there.
